INTEGRATIVE BODYWORK

Who can benefit?

Myofascial release-based bodywork helps people get out of pain, release old traumas, settle the nervous system and find more freedom in their bodies. My treatments benefit a number of types of clients with various problems, including:

  • Pain & injury

  • Chronic illness

  • Anxiety & emotional unrest

  • Feeling “stuck”

  • Mobility issues

  • Difficulty letting go of tension

  • Those who have tried other therapies without success

What is it?

Every body has different needs, and the integrative bodywork I do allows us to follow the wisdom of your body. I am a certified PT, but the work I do with my clients draws from a broad field. Sessions are 60-75 minute experiences in which I assess your restrictions and holding patterns. I use many modalities to address these patterns, generally beginning with myofascial release. Read below to learn more about the various modalities that make up integrative bodywork.

Your presence and awareness in your body during our session allows release and healing to take place. I will guide you towards that goal and usually offer home techniques so you can continue to heal and help yourself after and between our sessions.

Myofascial Release

Developed by John F. Barnes, MFR addresses the fascial, or connective tissue system of the body. The fascia is tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, vessel, organ and each fiber in the body. Often times, chronic postures and pain can cause tissues to become “glued” into dysfunctional patterns. The technique is designed to release restrictions that hold us in tight patterns and help us to achieve a balanced state.

Craniosacral Therapy

CST is a gentle hands-on treatment which taps into a rhythm of the body generated as the cerebrospinal fluid is produced and circulated. The bones and membranes around the head, spine and tailbone are gently manipulated to help smooth out the body’s individual rhythm, free up restrictions, and promote the body’s natural ability to heal and return to a state of balance. The nervous system is able to relax which allows deep healing to occur.  People report a very deep sense of relaxation and peace after a session.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage addresses the lymphatic system in the body. The function of the lymphatic system is to transport the white blood cells to areas that need healing. Occasionally, the lymphatics get “stuck” or cannot flow properly. Lymphatic drainage is used to promote proper lymphatic flow, which can reduce swelling, promote good immune health and clear up stagnant areas of the body. The technique is very gentle, as the lymphatics lie directly under the skin, within the fascia.

Visceral Mobilization

Visceral Mobilization is a technique created by Jean-Pierre Barral which helps to gently release restrictions around the internal organs and restore balance of movement within the body.  The organs are especially adept at holding our emotions, and these techniques not only can restore physical balance in the body, but help to unlock and clear out emotional patterns as well.

Reiki

Reiki is an energetic healing system was developed by a Japanese man named Mikao Usui. The word “reiki” means “universally or spiritually guided life force”. Reiki is a gentle technique in which the practitioner lays her hands on or above you, allowing “ki”, or life force energy to be transferred to the areas that need it. The idea is that as areas with depleted “ki” are restored to their optimal level, the body is then able to heal itself.

Neural Resonance Therapy

Neural Resonance Therapy® is a technique created by Meredith Sands-Keator utilizing specific points in the body to access deeply into the nervous system.  This energetic technique can be incorporated into any type of healing modality and works with the sacred geometrics of our crystalline body structure. This work allows the nervous system to deeply relax and allows our subconscious resistances to let go so that deeper levels of healing can occur.
